Dynamic Hyper Text Markup Language (DHTML) - is the technology for building interactive HTML pages. DHTML is a set of several technologies: HTML 4.х + JavaScript + CSS. This technology is applied when it is necessary to print the page dynamically when changing some conditions (for example, when placing the cursor on an object it can change its color or dimensions; when passing the focus on another field of the form it verifies the correctness of the data entered in the field precedent etc.).
A very common application of DHTML technology is found in the creation of menus, which not only enjoys the view of visitors through dynamism, but also considerably reduce the space they occupy.
Benefits:
• Enhancing the resource's potential for competition - a site that contains dynamically editable colors, animated graphics, dropdown 1 menus, or other user interface elements, of course, are more appealing than usual static pages. Of course, these must be used with care, respecting the general principles of design.
• Maintenance simplicity - DHTML allows you to place typical page formatting elements in separate style tables and scenarios, and then include them in a similar way on all pages. This allows a centralized management of the styles and avoids the risk of mistakes, which appear when writing them on each page separately.
Shortcomings:
• DHTML applications are quite autonomous in the browser, without server support, meaning the level of productivity and speed of application execution depends to a large extent on the capabilities of the visitor's computer.
